Jakob Kolb

Jakob Kolb (b. 1992, Deutschlandsberg) is the first international artist of this year. He will spend two months—April and May—at PRÁM, and you can look forward to his solo exhibition curated by Šárka Koudelová on May 13, 2025, with the opening starting at 6:00 PM.

Jakob is an interdisciplinary artist and musician based in Vienna, whose work navigates the intersections of memory, transformation, and ephemerality through immersive installations, audiovisual media, and sculptural forms.

His practice explores themes of otherness, nostalgia, and the relationship between natural and artificial systems, drawing from personal narratives, cultural memory, and speculative visions of the future.

His creative process often begins with drawing, evolving into paintings, sculptures, and spatial installations. He experiments with both organic and synthetic materials, shaping forms that merge symbolic and historical contexts. His works frequently bring painting into dialogue with sculptural and architectural elements, creating immersive environments that invite open-ended interpretation.

Beyond his visual art practice, Jakob is an active musician. Under the moniker On Bells, he is engaged in producing, mixing, and mastering music projects on the Austrian and international scene. He has also composed soundtracks for performances, theater productions, short films, documentaries, and sound art installations.

As a curator, he collaborates with various art spaces, including Schaumbad Graz, Vienna Contemporary 2024, Kunsthaus Weiz, and others.

His work has recently been exhibited in solo and group shows at institutions and galleries such as EXILE Gallery, Kunsthalle der HFBK, Klanglicht, Halle für Kunst Steiermark, Galerie Bäckerstrasse, Parallel Vienna, and Salon Goldschlag.

The project is supported by the City of Prague and the State Culture Fund of the Czech Republic.
